Why join a fraternity?
- Leadership - You'll be presented with opportunities to build your character and resume. Especially in DU, plenty of leadership opportunities in everything from justice to security to events planning to public relations to academic programming will be available to you almost immediately after joining.
- Scholarship - The Greek community has a higher GPA average than non-Greeks. With a 3.2 chapter mean GPA, DU promotes a devotion to academics that pushes its members far above the average.
- Brotherhood - You'll find friends who will last you a lifetime. You'll find guys of diverse backgrounds and interests who will stick with you and share with you more than any other kind of friends will. You'll be devoted to "extending the right hand of sympathy," as the DU Oath states, as brothers.
- Significance - Every U.S. President and Vice President, except three in each office, born since the first social fraternity was founded in 1825 have been members of a fraternity. 76% of all Congressmen and Senators belong to a fraternity. 40 of 47 U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1910 were fraternity men. Of the nation's 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by fraternity men.
- Philanthropy - The Greek system is the largest group of volunteers in the US. Greek organizations accomplish more for philanthropy than any other communities, donating over 10 million hours of community service a year.
